We are all told, “Everyone has a purpose." And while I believe that to be true, I also believe everyone has principles, everyone has methods and everyone has a gimmick. I want to explore the unique individuals of the world and investigate further into their gimmicks. Today I had a chance to sit down with artist Davoice, to discuss his forthcoming projects, including his upcoming website, soon to debut next month. Below is our interview which lasted a little over an hour.

Me- So what's your gimmick?
DD- My name is DaVoice Detroit slumdog, the phoenix who rose from the ashes. I am a recording artist who loves to print custom apparel.
Me- Slumdog? that's new. What made you come up with that?
DD- What made me come up with Detroit Slumdog is because I'm from Detroit, North-end. which's considered a gritty part of the city but not forgetting where you come from. Having an prideful reality of home and being proud of it.
Me-Interesting, it's also pretty cool that you acknowledge that you're a recording artist first? How long have you considered yourself an artist?
DD-I was born an artist. My mind's always looking for different avenues or creative lanes to express myself. Some things I've just taken an stronger interest, for It holds more value to me.
Me-Born an artist, I dig that passion. You've been invested in a number of different creative outlets which we'll speak on later, but lets talk about music for now. How many hours a day do you tend to work on music?
DD- Music is always happening around me. I was working on this song called "Risk" when I had an artist calling me about a recording session this weekend. He wanted me to put together a "Trap Record." However I needed to make time to write songs for my own, so I need to work on managing my time to create for myself and others. So to answer your question. All the time. It's a challenge. It's different moments and subject matter I want to explore. To find satisfaction, that takes time.
Me- To run as many creative outlets as you do seems like a challenge within itself. But that creates a bigger question, with so little time and so many open avenues, do you think you'll ever be satisfied creatively?
DD- Life is about growth and as long as I feel growth in the moments, I can be happy. Creativity is infinite so I might never be truly satisfied but I can be satisfied with the works I produce.
ME- That's truly inspirational, you should frame that quote. So about this song "Risk is that an upcoming project that's coming out soon?
DD- I have a string of singles coming out. Along with my revamp website Launching 7-6-2018. "Risk" is the first hitter. I'm just releasing a collection of songs to showcase my versatility as an artist.
ME- Wow, so we should expect an album pretty soon?
DD- Album is a big word, but the music is the most important thing. When the website release not only will you get music but you also get dates for projects and shows coming up.
Me- Ok, so no talk of albums yet, we'll keep calling them a string of singles for now. So lets talk about the website, what's the name of the site?
DD- The website is called www.TheRealDaVoice.com, coming 7-6-2018. On this site you not only get to fall in love with the music but you can fall in love with the process.

Me- So what all does the process contain, because so far you've hinted at music, clothing and premiering singles.
DD- Videos of me producing music, calling artist to come to the studio, talking with other artist, collaborating with others, seeing how I pull inspiration to create while motivating others. Putting together shows for a cause. Doing business in general, and at times how I deal with having a personal life. Watching me create from scratch. How relationships are more valuable then money. The culture. Respecting it. Learning other cultures, it's the journey. The process.
Me- So it's part documentary as well?
DD- Parts are, some parts are all business.
Me- So in actuality, your gimmick is far more than just musician/shirt producer. You're attempting to build a brand of yourself, while documenting yourself. Music just happens to be involved.
DD- Correct. Maybe someone can see something they couldn't see before. I want this site to not only speak for me but to also voice an different perception for the artist.
Me- A different perception of artist? that's interesting, what perception do you feel people have of the artist now?
DD- That this is a game where no work is getting done, when in actuality the artist is sacrificing things that a lot of people in life can not comprehend unless you choose this life. Artist get to see every part of life we get to show you.
Me- I'm really interested to see how the website plays out. About your clothing line, what's the name of it?
DD- Well let me correct you. I don't have a clothing line. However personally I help entrepreneurs/artist brand themselves through merchandise.
Me- Branding through merchandising. Will this be incorporated into the site as well?
DD- Yes, I will have videos about that on my site. Quality in merchandise is everything to me. Anyone interested in getting any designs printed on T-shirts or other garments should not be afraid to contact me.
Me- So how many artist are you planning on working with so far?
DD- are we talking merchandise or music?
Me- Both.
DD- I'm careful who i work with musically, It can effect your drive and spirit. I've been working with Ivory Harris from VCBeats, he has a nice ear for production and helps remind me the genuine part of music. I'm still working with Joey Tre from Tribe, I like his R&B vibe that he brings to tracks.

(Davoice with Ivory Harris)
Me- Those are some good folks.
DD- Yeah, however two individuals recently have brought a fire in me that's different. This female poet name "Ray" (like the sun) and this producer name Ant.
Me- Sounds like we can expect some great material coming soon, but backing up a bit. You said working with certain people can effect your drive and spirit. Do you look at someones aura or vibe as a major part of the process when doing collaborations?
DD- Yes, Aura and Vibe is an big factor but what makes me decide really is knowing what you stand for. Why are you doing this? What is the reaction or effect of you creating. I create for different reasons, I have to see if our philosophies can work together.
Me- So I like to end the interview just as I began the interview, and the question kind of remains the same, if you could describe your gimmick in one word what would it be?
DD- Phoenix
Me- Nice, and where can people find you.
DD- at www.therealdavoice.com, on Instagram and twitter @TheRealDaVoice. Everything TheRealDaVoice if you have not caught on. On 7-6-2018 expect content.
